Alison Gertonson's background may help to illustrate how she came to establish Alison Gertonson Photography. She has years of experience in the visual/graphic arts and a creative eye to see the personality in each of her subjects. She is also a former Childbirth and Breastfeeding Instructor. She began her career in photography by merging her love for the visual arts with her desire to be around expectant families. As a Mom herself, Alison became frustrated with the drive-through style of photography found at commercial studios.  Often times, you wait in line, you are limited as to the number of poses, and you have little input as to when the photographer captures a shot.  Alison believes that the most priceless images are the ones where her subjects are captured in their most candid moments. Because Alison shoots in only digital, she can offer a larger quantity of these "freeze in time" poses - usually 30-50.   Her passion for capturing these unique moments in time is fired by the three greatest joys in her life - her sons Cameron & Clayton and her daughter, Claire. By using her love of photography to chronicle the every day moments of her three children, Alison decided to share her talent and transfer this hobby into a career. Alison puts all of her artistic and stylistic efforts into creating the perfect work of art from the black and white photojournalistic style that defines a large portion of her work, to the hand enhancing and fine-tuning of each and every image presented to the client, on to the state-of-the-art lab where her prints are processed. All of this combines to bring the customer results that are not just images, but works of art.
